About

Kelly Vogler

Massachusetts born and bred, I’ve now been living the good life in Nebraska since 2007. Not exactly the ideal location for someone who loves to travel….but it works for me!

The travel bug was planted in me at a young age as my parents made it a point to vacation as a family every year. By 22 years old I had been to every state in the country. I continued with travel on my own, joining a study abroad tour to Asia while in undergrad and spending a summer studying abroad in Spain. After graduation I moved to Honduras where I lived as a volunteer at an orphanage for four months.

Once back and joining the real world of full time working, I was making a pittance. My travel dreams were still there, but there was not much financially to make it happen. One night while traveling on a work trip, my friend Emily sent me a blog about a couple who travelled the world full time. I proceeded to spend the entire night googling everything I could find on “travel hacking”. Six hours later I had already applied for a credit card before even checking out of the hotel. And I’ve never looked back once.

While I’m making above a pittance level at work now, I still am a very staunch saver and continue to travel hack for every trip. Saving money gives me a thrill! I now hold a master’s degree in Leadership Education and Development from the University of Nebraska and my undergraduate degree in International Studies is from Union College. I spent eight years teaching leadership classes at Union College as well as a side hustle to my day job. I now work as the Vice President of Operations for a custom software development company in Lincoln, NE, Agilx.

When not traveling, I also spend my time advocating against abuse in all forms. I primarily works with women in the faith community who have experienced abuse in dating relationships and marriage, offering support on the road from surviving to thriving.  I believe strongly in education on these topics and that the more you know, the safer and wiser you can be. I am always happy to share resources on this topic so if you or anyone you know is in an abusive situation, I’d welcome the opportunity to chat.
